A war of words between Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo and Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama has ensued over the State of development in the county,

Arama, who, over the last few months has been blaming Nyaribo for what he termed as "failed management of the county affairs".

The MP has been making inroads in the county through charity works as well as heightened criticism of Nyaribo’s governance.

Arama is yet to declare his political interest in the county but speculation has it that he is eyeing the governor seat.

Over the weekend, Arama maintained that Nyaribo should be held responsible over what he termed as "systemic corruption" which he claimed is dogging his administration.

Speaking during a funds drive in aid of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Rangenyo in the West Mugirango constituency, Arama claimed that the Governor was not taking necessary measures to contain run-away corruption.

“We saw an employee who had just been paid Sh25 million illegally. Is this not corruption?” Arama posed.

Nyaribo, while responding to Arama’s criticism said the Nakuru West MP had no moral authority to address Nyamira's affairs.

He said the legislator was out to tarnish his governance record.

“The MP has many cases dogging him in Court. He is not a clean man and he should tell people the truth. We are doing well in Nyamira despite the side shows that are sponsored by the likes of the MP who are out to distract us from working,” Nyaribo said.

Arama also said as one of the leaders who come from Nyamira County, he could not sit back and watch resources meant to benefit people get misused.

“I want to tell Governor Nyaribo to stop panicking when I come to my home county to give back to the society which brought me up," he told the congregation.

“Am also asking Nyaribo to rise up and stamp out corruption which has become the order of the day in his administration," he stated.

Nyaribo clarified that no money has been lost from the county stating that the Sh25m reflected in one of the employee's payslip was an error that his government detected and immediately corrected.

“I want to assure the people of Nyamira that no money was paid. Arama is fond of peddling falsehood about my government because he wants to contest the seat of the governor in 2027,” the Governor said.
