Nyamira to commit Sh24 million for needy students joining KMTC

Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo has pledged to commit Sh24 million to cater for needy students joining the Kenya Medical Training College in the next financial year.

"Establishing a revolving fund to support needy students is very key.  I commit Sh24 million to help 300 needy students from Nyamira for three years," he said.

He spoke at his office where he received a delegation from the KMTC board.

The governor pledged to provide the necessary support to improve facilities at KMTC Nyamira Campus.

He said the county government will closely collaborate with KMTC to develop the requisite infrastructure to ensure smooth learning.

"I know we have budget constraints but I'm going to try and ensure we collaborate to improve our infrastructure to enable our students to learn in a conducive environment," he said.

He requested the KMTC board to add more courses and prioritise residents in admissions for their benefit.

KMTC CEO Kelly Olouch said his team was committed to strengthening and deepening the partnership with the county government, towards the improvement of public service delivery.

The delegation was led by Oluoch and KMTC board chairperson Zachary Muburi Muita among other board members.

Meanwhile, plans are underway to establish a Memorandum of Understanding between the county government and KMTC.
