Religious leaders pray for peace ahead of lent period

Politicians across the country eyeing for various elective seats have been urged to embrace peaceful and cohesive campaigns for the sake of the country ahead of the August polls.

This was the key message during the launch of the Lenten campaign, ahead of the Lent period, under the catholic church.

The various religious leaders stressed the need for peaceful coexistence in various parts of the country.

In his speech on behalf of the New Bishop, the Vicar General in the diocese of Kisumu, Father Moses Omolo, noted that this year’s theme of Unity in diversity call for peace and love amongst the people of Kenya, through their various events, and activities

Father Moses said that through the entire lent period the church and Christians should unite and pray for peaceful elections.

Members of the National Council of Churches Nyanza Chapter who were also present, led by the Vice-chairperson in charge of Nyanza region arch Bishop Betty Onyango, and Bishop Joshua Koyo said this is an appropriate moment for the entire nation to reflect on its purpose and to sincerely unite because of peace

She added that as the catholic launches the Lenten campaign they will not allow any form of divisions and incitement of the public against each other

Father Samwel Nyataya , the coordinator of the catholic Justice and peace committee in the arch Diocese of Kisumu however explained that, the 40 days period shall be segmented into 5 weeks with key National messages per week
