A section of Nyanza politicians have backed ODM leader Raila Odinga for President.

They urged Raila to remain steadfast and unite the country.

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo on Monday said Raila is the only solution and told off Deputy President William Ruto on his bottom-up approach.

"You have been part of the presidency for 10 years and you have done nothing. Why is it that you are now discovering what you never did after nine years you have been in power?" Amolo said of Ruto.

The leaders spoke at Nyamwanga Primary School grounds during the burial of ODM national treasurer Timothy Bosire's wife Jane Bosire who died last week in Nairobi.

Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga said it is time for Ruto and his allies to stop 'lying' to Kenyans about their dreams of improving the Kenyan economy since they never did it in the years they have been in power.

"These people should stop joking with Kenyans. All these things they are telling us are not possible because if they were possible, they would have happened long time ago," said Wanga.

They condemned South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro whom they said should stop telling Kenyans about the bottom-up approach which they said may not work.

"We will not listen to lecturers by people who have been sleeping all along in power, only to come and start telling us about bottom-up. It is only one man who will be a solution to the deplorable state our country and that is Raila Odinga," Senator TJ Kajwan'g said.

Wanga said the country is tired of dreams that will never come true and called upon the Gusii region and Nyanza as a whole to give support to Raila in 2022.

The leaders who were at the burial are governors Amos Nyaribo (Nyamira) Anyang Nyong'o (Kisumu), Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Managing, Rarieda MP Otiende Ammollo, Nyamira Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi, Senator Okong'o Omogeni, Kisii Governor James Ongwae and East Africa Legislative Assembly MP Oburu Odinga.

Other were Siaya Senator James Orengo, MPs Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Ben Momanyi (Borabu), Speaker Moffat Teya and Busia speaker Bernard Wamalwa.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna criticized a section of leaders allied to the Deputy president for following the bottom-up approach, saying they should get other ways of expressing political aspirations.

Raila said there are plans to reorganize Nyanza Region and make a move, towards securing the country's leadership.

"All this drama about bottom-up approach is just hearsay that cannot shake us as a region. This is the time to liberate our country from the injustices that has been happening before," Raila said.
