A torn ballot materials box was the cause of commotion at the Bonchari distribution centre on Monday.

ODM party officials said the torn Bogiakumu box was causing concern of rigging ahead of voting on Tuesday.

The claims were however, swiftly denied by Sub-County Returning officer Benson Ambuko.

Ambuko said the ballot box was damaged during transportation. "Besides the tear, we have ascertained that everything is in order," he told journalists.

ODM party secretary general Edwin Sifuna and treasurer Timothy Bosire alleged some ballot boxes were being stuffed.

" We got this information that some papers were brought in a torn box. Upon reaching here however we have been assured that it was spoiled on delivery. We hope what they are telling us is truthful," said Sifuna.

The Star could not independently ascertain the claim by the two politicians.

Sifuna said the party will root for nothing less than free and credible polls.
