IN THE WRONG? Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University vice chancellor Stephen Agong in his office on Tuesday.

More than 400 members of the Kenya University Staff and Universities Academic Staff unions yesterday demonstrated against Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University VC Stephen Agong.

They marched to Bondo police station to report an assault case against Agong.

The workers marched along the busy Bondo street, disrupting businesses.

The VC is accused of slapping Kusu secretary general Mathews Oduol on Monday.

Uasu deputy secretary general Edwin Mutanda demanded Agong’s resignation.

He cited members’ insecurity, poor pay and irregular allocation of allowances as some issues they want addressed.

Agong said his security men only restrained Oduol as he tried to force himself into his office.

He urged the workers to resume duty as the management plans to meet union leaders.

Speaking to the Star in his office, Agong said the workers’ strike is illegal.

“I urge workers to resume duty ahead of the ISO certification process which has just started,” he said.
