Garissa Township UDM candidate Mohamed Dolal on Tuesday hit out at unmanned individuals whom he said tried to block his clearance by IEBC.
Speaking outside the Garissa township IEBC offices after being cleared Dolal said it had not been easy to get to that point.
There has been confusion in social media with stories that Dolal had stepped down and would no longer participate in the by-election.
This led to confusion among his supporters prompting him to come out and refute the rumours.
“Some dark forces worked so hard and tried to stop my candidature but today I stand in front of the camera to tell them that shame on them," he said.
"We have been cleared and it is the voters of Garissa who will decide whom they want as their next MP."
Dolal, commonly referred to as ‘Jofle’ by his supporters has contested the seat since 2013 but always emerged second behind former MP Aden Duale.
In the August polls he garnered 5,972 votes against Duale’s 9,905.
He urged the electorate to give him a chance to be their leader describing himself as the most mature politician among the candidates contesting.
“I want to plead with the voter of Garissa township to kindly elect me. I am motivated by the call to serve and offer good leadership that has been missing for a long time,” he said.
Dolal who has already been endorsed by his Awlihan clan as the sole candidate for the seat will battle it out with ten other candidates among them UDA’s Mohamed Barrow Dekow.
The by-election has been slated for 5th of January.
