On Monday, the two held a meeting with officials from the departments of Roads and Public Works and Trade, and Information, Communications and Technology.

Issues discussed were current staffing levels with a view of enhancing services to the people.

They also touched on the revitalisation of a financial revolving fund that was established during Governor Abdullahi’s first term in 2013 with the aim of empowering women entrepreneurs economically.

“We shall renew public trust in our service provision, revive all the well-functioning policies and be accommodative of new ideas as well as resume those programmes which have always remained our priority in the past,” he said.

He added, “And where we see they are not meeting our people’s expectations, we shall reset them altogether and plan for the better.”

Meanwhile,  Muhumed paid an impromptu visit to Wajir Referral Hospital Friday to check on the welfare of both staff and patients at the facility.

The deputy governor toured the maternity ward, the male ward and the administration offices where he engaged health workers on duty about the conditions and challenges they face in delivering services at the hospital.

Muhumed also checked on the patients in the wards enquiring about their health and wishing them quick recovery.

“I am proud of the workers on duty, the government pledges to improve the working conditions of our health workers. We also guarantee a steady supply of medicine and hiring of competent staff in order to uplift the vital health department,” the Deputy Governor said.

He said the new administration will make regular checks to ensure Wajir residents receive better services as per their campaign slogan “Restoring Hope”.

“Hope is already being felt,” said Muhumed, while pointing out that the department of health has deployed a nurse and delivered essential medicine to Ganyure dispensary in Wajir West subcounty that had been closed for sometime.

“The administration through the department of health, has mapped out all the 26 closed health facilities with a view of operationalising them in collaboration with community elders, health committees and other stakeholders in the affected areas to diligently serve members of our communities across the county,” he said.
