There are only four private secondary schools in Embu county, director of education Beatrice Makau has said. However, the number of private primary schools is nearly half of their public counterparts, she said. Makau spoke at Embu High School on Saturday during its prize-giving day.

Some 88 students out of 101 scored a C+ and above, while 51 had Bs in the KCSE exam. She urged investors to build more private secondary schools and promised that her department will provide assistance.

Makau praised the four private secondary schools for providing quality and holistic education. She cited Embu High among the best performing private and public secondary schools.
