Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said he will not betray the cause of his Kamba community and the country at large by abandoning Cord for Jubilee. He said Jubilee leaders rejected an alliance with him ahead of the March 4, 2013 general election, saying he did not have the numbers.

Kalonzo said Jubilee leaders are traitors who cannot keep their word. “I cannot stand Jubilee's betrayal and vindictiveness,” he said on Saturday. The former Vice President said he is steadfast in Cord, where stands the best chance of becoming President. “The Jubilee team dread facing me at the presidential ballot because they know I will vanquish them with ease. They are using all antics, including Wiper leaders, to undermine my candidature,” he said.

Kalonzo was addressing Kamba leaders, businesspeople and workers living in Mombasa at the Aga Khan Hall. He was with Kitui Governor Julius Malombe and Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr.

President Uhuru Kenyatta recently hosted Ukambani delegations at State House, Nairobi. The forums are seen as aimed at enticing Kalonzo and Wiper to join Jubilee. But Kalonzo said he is confident his co-principals Raila Odinga and Moses Wetang'ula will let him to fly the Cord presidential flag in next year’s election.

“I urge you to ignore Wiper elected MPs and governors who have been lured with money to betray a community’s cause and to derail my presidential ambitions. They have found it hard to resist the money-laden briefcases from Jubilee. They are cheap sell-outs,” Kalonzo said.

He urged members of the Kamba community in Mombasa to use their numerical might to elect their own to leadership positions. “Use your numbers to claim a leadership stake in the running of the affairs of Mombasa,” he told the gathering.
