Meru Governor Peter Munya has called on Senator Kiraitu Murungi to declare his wealth.

He said he is also willing to declare his own financial status.

Munya said Kiraitu is opposing the construction of roads using probase technology to settle political differences.

He spoke at St Angelus Secondary School in Muthara.

“Now that he wants to be elected governor, he has risen up to oppose construction of the 150km stretch using the probase technology. Even the President was happy about the project. Ugandan delegates are coming to see it soon,” Munya said.

He said the probase technology is cheaper than what was used to tarmac 80km in South Imenti.

Munya urged MPs to concentrate on development and avoid making “vulgar pronouncements” against the county government.

He denied Kiraitu helped him win the last election, saying he was a strong candidate in his own right.

Munya urged residents to get ID cards and register as voters.

“No one should prevent people from getting ID cards or from being registered as voters because it is your right. Even those who oppose me should acquire the document to show their will and power,” he said.

Munya condemned registration officers who do not cooperate with MCAs when asked to go with them to the grassroots to register voters.
