Two MPs from Ukambani want action taken against individuals said to have misappropriated public funds in the Auditor General’s report.

Mbooni MP Michael Kisoi and his Yatta counterpart Francis Mwangangi said criticism towards the Auditor General's office is unfair.

“I want to appeal to those playing cheap politics to stop wasting their time and clear their names,” Kisoi said.

He said the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and the Director of Public Prosecutions should conduct investigations and have the culprits

prosecuted.

Kisoi said those accused of corruption should be treated equally, whether they are senior government officials or wananchi.

Mwangangi called on the President not to back off in the fight against corruption.

“Our President is the only leader in Kenya who is able to deal with corruption. I'm asking him to be ruthless when in dealing with some of these issues,” he said.

Mwangangi said corruption has held the country hostage on development for many years.

The two were speaking in Makutano Day and Boarding Primary School, Yatta, on Saturday during a funds drive to support more than 200 women's groups in the constituency.
