The Nairobi county assembly and the Supreme Court are headed for a battle over the parking lot stationed next to the Supreme Court building.

The MCAs are now demanding immediate vacation of Supreme Court officers from the disputed parking lot.

In a motion moved by Kilimani MCA Moses Ogetoon Tuesday, the legislators said they will not let go of the parking lot that they have been using since 2013.

Majority leader Peter Imwatok said the county government allocated the assembly the land which they use as a parking lot.

“As the majority leader, I will not go down in history to become the first to lead members without a parking slot,” he said.

Imwatok, pleaded with Speaker Ken Ng’ondi to give the MCAs a green light to block and park their vehicles in front of the Supreme Court on Thursday

“Mr Speaker we are ready even to park our vehicles for three days at the Supreme Court until we get what belongs to us. This is injustice and we shall not sit down and watch,” Mountain View MCA Maurice Onyango said.

Gatina MCA Kennedy Swaka said that the parking slots belonged to the MCAs and that what was currently happening was an injustice.

“Mr Speaker we are ready to park our vehicles for three days at the Supreme Court until we get what belongs to us,” Onyango said.

Ng’ondi is expected to give directions on the issue on Thursday, November 3.
