President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga will face a tough test as they plan joint nomination to pick a candidate for Nairobi's governor seat.

ODM director of elections Junet Mohammed and Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju had earlier said both parties will be under Azimio la Umoja.

The cordial relationship between the two parties will be extended into long term political agreements to strengthen them.

As nomination nears, Jubilee and ODM are divided over sharing the Nairobi elective seats.

Azimio la Umoja is supported by Jubilee and ODM members.

In Jubilee, Governor Ann Kananu, businesswoman Agnes Kagure and Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Richard Ngatia are all eyeing the top county job.

However, Kagure is the only Jubilee aspirant who has officially launched her candidature.

Ngatia is said to be waiting for the Jubilee National Delegates Convention to know the way forward.

The business tycoon said he was more than ready for a face off with anyone in the Azimio la Umoja during primaries.

Ngatia has always been given a platform during Azimio rallies to address the people.

Kananu who will defend her seat has been accompanying Raila in rallies as she advocates for women to be elected.

The three Jubilee aspirants have already hit the ground to campaign as they lure city residents to vote for them.

In ODM, only Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has declared interest and launched his candidature for the county’s top seat.

The legislator appears to be favoured by ODM members.

Last month, Raila hinted at endorsing him for county top job during a rally in Dagoretti.

The ODM leader while introducing Wanyonyi referred to him as "gavana mtarajiwa" (incoming governor).

In December Raila’s wife, Ida Odinga endorsed him.

Ida described Wanyonyi as an organised and intelligent person since they worked together in the  Kenya Paraplegic Organisation.

Makadara MP George Aladwa had announced his interest in the seat but has since not said a word concerning his bid.

However, ODM’s secretary general Edwin Sifuna said the party has only one candidate, MP Wanyonyi.

Already Woman Rep Esther Passaris has suggested an opinion poll be carried out for all candidates supporting Azimio la  Umoja hinting that it was overcrowded.

By doing so, she said, the best candidate would be chosen and carry forward Raila's agenda in the August election.
