Collaborating with the county government of Nairobi to initiate cleanliness, restoration of Nairobi River, and garbage out of the city streets and its environs will be among our top priorities during our regime, newly elected NCBDA chairman Wachira Njuguna has said.

Njuguna said his team will work closely with stakeholders towards restoring order in the traffic flow in Nairobi and human traffic on CBD streets.

"We will also work in collaborating with both county and National government in decongesting the CBD,"

Njuguna was elected on Friday as the chairman of the Nairobi County Business District Association (NCBDA) at the Panafric Hotel, Nairobi.

He said the governing council will work towards controlling crime and enhancing security and city planning including pioneering the installation of CCTVs in the city.

He said the council will work towards ensuring litter bin restoration and installation in a private-public partnership model.

Outgoing chairman David Gachuru said during the event that over the years. the association initiated projects among them tree planting for the city and primary school tree planting project in adopting the three R's which are Re-use, Reduced, and Recycle solid waste.

He said despite the success, there have been challenges that the association has faced just like any other organisation.

"The changing dynamics in the operating environment has also affected the operation of the association and we admit that some members are not currently in touch with undertakings of the association,"Gachuru said.

He urged the incoming team to look beyond the conventional findings of the association and reach out to emerging and traditional funding sources including engaging high-level social-economic research affecting business to gain more funding.

Gachuru added that the association should work closely with the county government, national government, and donor organisation in an amicable environment to spur good relations with business class.
