Six national police service commissioners likely to take oath this week

The NPS has not hired since May 11

The six newly appointed National Police Service Commissioners are likely to take the oath of office anytime this week after they were endorsed by Parliament and gazetted on Thursday.

They are chairman Eliud Kinuthia, Eusebius Laibuta (Administration Police) and Lilian Kiamba (Kenya Police), Naphtaly Rono, Alice Otwala and John Moyaki.

They were appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday after approval by the National Assembly

Inspector General of police nominee Hillary Mutyambai (pictured) is expected to be vetted by the National Assembly's Committee on National Administration and Security.

If approved, Mutyambai will be sworn-in to join the commission.

The second NPSC is expected to determine the next recruitment of the National Police Service and the number of recruits to be enlisted. The NPS has not hired since May 11 2017. The last batch of recruits graduated in February last year.
