Governor waives Sh134m rates for Jua Kali in Ziwani, pledges to fi ght grabbers

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has waived Sh134 million land rates for Jua Kali artisans at Ziwani.

The rates, which includes penalties and interests, have accrued for more than 10 years. The waiver takes effect immediately.

“Some people have been coming to me saying that you are unable to pay this money and so we should take it away from you and sell it. But I told them that is not possible,” he said when he visited the artisans on Tuesday.

Kidero was accompanied by Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke. He warned land grabbers against harassing and stealing other people's property.

Kidero assured the Jua Kali artisans that he will keep their land free from interference by land grabbers . He said his government is committed to improving their working conditions.
