Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo has warned bandits against attacking county residents.

This comes a day after a young girl was killed on Tuesday following a suspected bandit attack in Charabdhicha area.

Her mother was also reported to have been injured following the raid.

"I wish to convey my deepest condolences, as your Governor and on behalf of the County Government of Isiolo, to the family and friends of the young girl who lost her life yesterday," Guyo said in a statement on Wednesday.

The governor said his administration is working closely with the relevant security apparatus to make sure those involved face the full force of the law.

"We are working round the clock to also prevent such occurrences from happening in the future. We cannot allow such senseless attacks to go on unabated," Guyo said.

Cattle rustling, ethnic politics and banditry are among the challenges facing North Eastern and Upper Eastern counties.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale vowed to deal with North Eastern challenges in the execution of his ministerial mandate.

Last month, Duale announced that he was determined to bring peace in the North Eastern counties which are facing challenges such as insecurity and banditry.

"After CS Kindiki and I are done with North Rift, our next stop will be in North Eastern," Duale said.

He emphasised that Kenya Kwanza will be the regime that brings peace and stability in the troubled North Eastern region.

"This will be the administration that will kill clan conflict and cattle rustling and we want our kids to learn without any worry," Duale said.
