IEBC has authorised the use of manual register to identify voters in parts of Makueni after failure of Kiems kits.

Voters said they were boredom and tired after waiting for long at polling stations.

At least 80 polling stations experienced network failure during the crucial voting exercise.

Some of the stations include Sekeleni, Mukameni, Boma 4 and Yieni in Nguumo wards; Kiambani in Makindu, Kikumini, Mithumoni, Kyeni and Mulala in Emali Mulala ward.

Chrispus Mukumbu, the returning officer for Sekeleni Primary School, informed the Star that they were awaiting for the returning officer to give them way forward.

The returning officer for Kibwezi West, Githinji Ngomano, said the failure was due to poor network.

Ngomano said they had already contacted their IEBC bosses to quickly resolve the matter.

"After the issue is sorted we hope to extend the hours a bit to replace the lost time to enable Kenyans exercise their democratic voting right," Ngomano said.

He insisted that the Constitution stipulates that all stations should close at 5pm.

Ngomano urged the voters to remain calm as they resolved the matter .
