Security agents, Embu leaders mourn Kibaki

Security and political leaders in Embu have eulogized the late former president Mwai Kibaki.

While launching the signing condolence book at the Eastern regional Commissioner's office in Embu on Monday evening, the leaders said Kibaki was a transformative leader who raised the living standards of every Kenyan.

The event started by observing a minute of silence in honour of the late former president Kibaki.

The Eastern regional Commissioner Evans Achoki opened the condolences book before the Regional Police Commander, Embu County Commissioner.

In his tribute during the launch, the RC said Kibaki will remain forever in the hearts of Kenyans.

He said the late Kibaki transformed Kenya to a whole different level by improving the public service, initiating and implementing development services which raised Kenyans' standards of living.

Achoki said Kibaki brought the vision 2030 which gave the country a direction to follow in developing the economy.

"I remember Kibaki as a great leader who helped to transform this country," Achoki said.

."I also want to remember him as the President who reviewed Public service salaries. We earned very little until President Kibaki's intervention."

He said that condolences books will be available at all the DCC and Regional Commissioner's offices until Friday.

"I request people of Embu to come and sign the condolences book in the respect of Kibaki whose legacy is felt by all Kenyans."

On her side, the former Youth PS Lilian Mbogo eulogized President Kibaki as a leader who was committed to the development and Unity of the country.

She said that it was during President Kibaki's regime that the University of Embu was established and later awarded a charter by the sitting president Uhuru Kenyatta.

"As people of Embu, we'll forever remember Kibaki for his commitment towards education through the introduction of the University of Embu during his regime," she said.

Mbogo said Kibaki introduced a performance contract something she said changed the productivity of the public servants.

Former Embu County Senator Lenny Kivuti said president Kibaki's development record is endless and his legacy will forever remain.

"I remember when I was the Siakago MP, I went to see him to request for Siakago road. He told me he doesn't like the construction of roads leading to nowhere. This led to the revision of the plan to form an Embu County ring road which he later signed," said Kivuti.

President Kibaki has been greatly known for his great development record that improved the Kenyan economy.
