Agriculture CS Peter Munya has said the woes facing Deputy President William Ruto are a result of disrespecting his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Years back Munya predicted that the DP will face a lot of woes in 2022 after he accused him of meddling in the affairs of his PNU party.
“If you don’t respect your boss, who else can you respect? That tells you the kind of leadership he will provide in case he becomes President, ” Munya said.
Speaking on Saturday during a press briefing at Three Steers Hotel, North Imenti constituency, he said Ruto fought so many leaders and they will fight him back in 2022 as he seeks Presidency.
“I foresaw those problems, If you go fighting other leaders,chest-thumping, compromising space and room for everyone, failure to respect other people then the problem he is facing was meant to happen,” Munya said.
On being accused of plotting to kill the DP at La Mada Hotel Munya said the truth has now come out that those were just mere allegations.
“Surely how could I plot to kill someone who is guarded by 257 police officers, that story was intended to taint my image. We were only planning development agenda,” Munya said.
He also said PNU will support Jubilee candidate Samson Kirimania in Kiagu ward by-election.
The by-election will be conducted on October 14 after the area MCA succumbed to cancer three months ago.
Munya said they are sure that Jubilee will clinch the seat.
He also said the meeting at Statehouse last week was for Mt Kenya leaders and they did not agree he would step down to run for the Meru governor seat in 2022.
The former Meru governor was trounced by current governor Kiraitu Murungi and there were reports that he had agreed to vie or step down from vying for governor’s seat and instead look for a national seat or vie for Meru senator.
He said he has never thought of vying for Senator.
Munya said Kiraitu should concentrate on delivering his electoral pledges and manifesto.
On being picked as a running mate he said he does not believe in a situation where people pick other people.
“I believe in a situation where people discuss and agree to partner and if such a situation arises I will consult with the people of Meru,” he said.
He said for now his focus in 2022 is to vie for Meru governor.
Munya said he has consistently supported the handshake and if they support Raila for President in 2022 he should tell the people and leaders what he will do for the mountain.
“It not just open support there must be a structure to negotiate on the share of government and development as they are the biggest voting block in the country with 37 per cent,” he said.
Munya said that although they have shown goodwill to support Raila for president, the possibility of a candidate from Mt Kenya running for president should not be ruled out.
He said President Uhuru Kenyatta who has been leading the push for unity in his meetings in Sagana, said in the last meeting that he will call them back to conclude the discussions on succession.
