Veteran politician Hassan Mwanyoha has denied claims he is no longer the Kwale ODM chairman.

This came after allegations his post had been given to someone else, after a falling out with the party.

Mwanyoha, who spoke in Ukunda, said he is not ready to let go of the chairman's post.

He said those saying he is no longer the Orange Party chairman in the region, are spreading propaganda propagated by his political rivals and a few party members, who are jealous of his work.

The politician said these people are hungry for power and money, and do not have agenda or good motives towards ODM.

“I'm still the ODM chairman and a diehard supporter of the party. Whatever you are hearing about me is not true and I condemned it,” Mwanyoha said.

He said most of those fighting him come from Mombasa and have no clue of Kwale ODM affairs.

Mwanyoha said the party grassroots elections have not been conducted and he is wondering who is the self-proclaimed new Kwale ODM chairperson.

He said one does not wake up and declare themselves party leaders.

Mwanyoha said his critics have failed to put their houses in order and want to interfere with the progress of Kwale ODM.

He said he has popularised the party and its leader Raila Odinga to great heights.

Mwanyoha said Raila has the most followers in Kwale compared to other coastal counties.

“Last week, you saw a big crowd attending the ODM party registration drive and that is because I'm an active organiser and our members are doing an amazing job,” he said.

Mwanyoha said he has the trust of ODM members because of his dedication and love for the party and Raila.

He said he wants to maintain his position to fast-track the development of Kwale people through the party leadership.

He warned the party members against falling for the wrong leaders.

Mwanyoha said rival political parties will use anything to weaken ODM unity and lose its political grip not only in Kwale, but the entire coastal region.

“An advice to ODM members, people will come with money and bribe you during the party elections. These are the same individuals who will sink the party because they are hypocrites,” he said.

The former Matuga MP said they have set proper mechanisms to ensure ODM secures all political seats in Kwale and Raila becomes President in 2027.
