Mombasa ODM party gubernatorial candidate Abdulswamad Nassir has said that he is heading to court to compel the electoral body IEBC to conduct the governor elections on Tuesday as earlier announced.

IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati on Wednesday postponed the elections for Mombasa and Kakamega indefinitely citing frustrations and intimidations of his officials.

The elections which were to take place on August 9, were postponed on technical issues.

"The law is very clear about postponing the election, you cannot just wake up and decide to postpone it, haiwezekani" Nassir said.

"We will go to court, we are going to expect an order that the elections will be held on the stipulated date"

Nassir was addressing the media Wednesday evening.

He said that there was no reason to postpone the election.

"We demand the election be done on Tuesday. We are also demanding answers as to why they were postponed," Nassir said.
