Likoni Member of parliament Mishi Juma Mboko and his Jomvu counterpart Badi Twalib have retained their seats in the just concluded general election.

Her closest rival Mohammed Mwalimu Mwahima, son of the late Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima came second with 10,238 votes.

Mwahima was running on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket, allied to Deputy President William Ruto.

The results were announced by the IEBC Likoni constituency returning officer Margaret Wakesho at the constituency tallying centre at the YWCA Hall.

The constituency has a total of 94,764 registered voters spread across the five wards of Likoni, Bofu, Timbwani, Mtongwe and Shikaadabu.

It had a total of 153 polling stations.

Speaking shortly after receiving her certificate, Mboko thanked IEBC for conducting a free, fair and credible election.

She also thanked security officers in the area for ensuring that there was law and order to enable a peaceful voting environment.

"Though elections began an hour late in most parts of Likoni, we thank IEBC for compensating the hour to allow our people to vote"

"Asanteni Likoni people for giving me another chance to serve you," said Mboko

She extended an olive branch to her competitors urging them to join her in building Likoni.

"Elections come and go, you will all have another chance next time. For now, let's join hands to make Likoni great," she said.
