Wiper is expected to win three out of the four parliamentary seats in Taita Taveta county.

Wiper's Bwire Okano, Danson Mwashako and Hamisi Chome have been declared winners of the Taveta, Wundanyi and Voi MP seats.

Okano floored seasoned politician and Jubilee Party deputy leader Naomi Shaban. He garnered 18,742 votes against Shaban's 7,772 votes.

In an interview on Thursday, Okano thanked his supporters for overwhelmingly voting for him.

"This is a time to open a new chapter for the people of Taveta. I'm assuring my people that I won't let them down," he said.

Shaban joined politics in 2002. She served as an MP for 20 years after unseating former MP Basil Criticos.

She has conceded defeat.

"Good people, there is time for everything. Thank you for giving me a chance to serve you for 20 years. My younger brother Okano, I congratulate you," Shaban said.

In Voi, Chome defeated incumbent Jones Mlolwa.

Taita Taveta was previously predominantly an ODM zone.

But this time ODM has lost all three parliamentary seats it held in the county.

In 2013, ODM won the Wundanyi, Mwatate and Voi MP seats.

In 2017, ODM retained Voi and Mwatate.

Jubilee Party’s Peter Shake has won the Mwatate seat. Outgoing MP Andrew Mwadime is seeking the governor's seat as an independent candidate.

Shake, a businessman and Anglican Church of Kenya vicar, won the seat with 11,317 votes against ODM's Christopher Mwambingu's 5,953.

The governor's race is between Mwadime and incumbent Granton Samboja of Jubilee.
