Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu took the Azimio la Umoja message to Mombasa where she called on Kambas living there to join the bandwagon.

She said the Azimio la Umoja message must be taken to every community to ensure the country remains united and move forward in terms of development.

“I believe this is the way to go in this country if we are going to get ourselves the right government,”  Ngilu said on Sunday.

Azimio la Umoja Movement is ODM leader Raila Odinga’s pathway that he believes will take him to State House.

Speaking to the Kamba community at the Mombasa Women Hall, Ngilu warned against false prophets saying they will miraculously cure their problems once in power.

“Listening to what UDA is talking about, I cannot see anything that they will offer differently from what we know the UDA leader has been doing, she said.

“Remember, the UDA leader has been a deputy president for nine years. So, what new thing will he give to Kenya, that he was unable to offer?”

Using what her administration has been able to do over the last four years, she demonstrated what good leadership can do for the country in terms of manufacturing.

Ngilu said it is possible to do major manufacturing in counties if there are good leaders.

Showcasing what Kitui has been able to manufacture, Ngilu said other counties can follow suit.

Kitui has been manufacturing shoes, wines, honey, among other products.

She said 90 per cent of people employed at the Mombasa port do offload goods coming in from other parts of the world.

SGR, she said, transports goods from outside Kenya to different parts of the country.

“At what point are we going to start real manufacturing of products that can be made in this country and not just depend on everything that is being imported into the country?” Ngilu said.

She said the more Kenya imports goods from other countries, the more it exports jobs.

“It means that the young people who we should employ and hire to produce, end up being jobless and we instead send these jobs to outside Kenya,” Ngilu said.

She said her party will field candidates for various elective seats in the 2022 general election.

However, she said she will first sit down with like-minded parties and come up with agreements and pacts that will guide

“Although we are going to be separate parties, we are going to field candidates in our parties,” she said.

Ngilu dismissed her political rival Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka saying there are only two horses in the 2022 presidential race.

This is despite Kalonzo having launched his presidential bid and preaching the One Kenya Alliance message.

Oka has Kalonzo, Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC)and Gideon Moi (Kanu).

Ngilu said the Kamba community must be in the government in 2022 and the Azimio la Umoja leadership will help Kenyans and not individuals in the movement.

“We must look at and ensure that the leadership that comes in, must take care of all Kenyan and not just a few people as we see in other parties,”  Ngilu said.

She said she still harbours hopes of seeing the Nasa team getting back together.

“Failure to do so may be catastrophic,” she said.
