Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro has been criticised for sabotaging the formation of a coast political party. “We intend to reduce this through the Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani,” he said.

Kingi criticised Jubilee for their attempt to cause cracks within JKP with plans to destabilise it. Speaking in Rabai yesterday, Kilfi Governor Amason Kingi said Mung’aro was bought off by Jubilee to frustrate the eff orts. Kingi said coastal MPs planned to popularise the Coast outfi t during the Malindi by-election by fi elding a candidate.

“But those whom we were in agreement with turned out to be chief campaigners of Jubilee,” he said. Mung’aro, among other ODM rebels, was poached by the ruling coalition to campaign for JAP candidate Philip Charo, who lost to ODM’s Willy Mtengo.

The governor said Jubilee feared the formation of the Coast outfi t, which could strongly unite leaders and residents. “Until when will we be used by Jubilee?” Kingi said. Mung’aro could not be reached for comment. e governor said residents are always united, but their leaders compete against each other, leading to disunity.

JKP IS NOT A POLITICAL OUTFIT

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi said President Uhuru Kenyatta failed to penetrate similar blocs in Western and Rift Valley, and thus he is determined to “finish” Jumuiya Ya Kaunti za Pwani.

He said JKP will only focus on economic development, not politics. Kingi faulted Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro, who was formerly an ODM supporter, for claiming all the six governors at the Coast are using JKP to seek political mileage.
