Politicians in Kiambu county have been urged to stop divisive politics and instead support President William Ruto's presidency.

Kanu, Limuru constituency chairman John Karanja advised leaders to stop the debate on who will be Ruto’s running mate in the next general elections.

Karanja, a former powerful youth leader during former President Daniel Moi's regime said comparing Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua with any other leader amounts to disrespect.

He urged the leaders to focus on serving their electorates instead of dividing the region.

"It is too early to start saying this or that MP should deputise Ruto in the next general elections. The president had his reasons when he selected him. As of now, I plead with leaders to stop the divisive debate," Karanja said.

He said Kanu leaders in the region are in full support of Ruto and Gachagua’s Kenya Kwanza government.

Karanja expressed optimism that they will improve the economy and the lives of Kenyans.

“The two have a lot of work. You cannot use one year to judge a leader's performance. No one knows what will happen in between. As for me, I support the Kenya Kwanza government,” he said.

Karanja urged young people to be creative and use their talents to earn a living.

“Life difficult, more so for lazy people. You need to be creative because there are many ways of earning an income. Getting capital is the challenge,” he said.

He asked the youth to take advantage of government funds such as Hustler Fund, Uwezo Fund and Youth and Women Enterprise Funds.

“What is ailing people people is failure to repay the revolving funds. Our people need to create a culture of repaying back borrowed money” he said.
