Kioni slams Ruto's regime, leads efforts to energise Jubilee

The Jubilee party has started strengthening its structures in preparation for a take-over from the Kenya Kwanza government.

On Friday, the party's secretary general Jeremiah Kioni met delegates from Murang'a County and oversaw the election of county officials.

Kioni said the party that is part of the Azimio la Umoja coalition is intent on lobbying for support from all parts of the country.

He said they have activities in numerous counties, with each member party of the coalition moving to strengthen its support in its strongholds.

"We have been to Meru, Lamu and Nakuru, and will be going to many more. We aim to reach 14 counties by the end of the year".

Kioni said the party is readying to take over the government if 'Kenyans say enough is enough'.

He noted that attempts to impeach the President as suggested by some quarters would be futile as he has weakened parliament.

"The current parliament cannot impeach Ruto. Don't expect MPs to help you impeach him. They eat, sleep and live off his pockets."

"Who can impeach Ruto? The same people who fly around with him? The first step he made was to weaken parliament to allow him to exploit Kenyans".

Kioni further claimed that the President attempted to interfere with the Jubilee party in a bid to ensure leaders from the Mt. Kenya region don't have a political voice.

He said the preparations being made by the party are not hinged on Ruto's impeachment but on the event that Kenyans decide to be done with the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Kioni assured party members that the current activities are being implemented with the blessings of former President and party leader Uhuru Kenyatta even though he's not hitting the ground.

Daniel Mubea who was elected the county chairperson of the party said they will hold sustained activities in the grassroots to popularize the party.

Murang'a was one of the UDA party strongholds with most of the elected leaders being members of the party.

Secretary General Njoroge Muthoni said the party will seek to solidify the support of over 88,000 registered members while registering over 100,000 new members.
