Kiambu members of the County Assembly have agreed to end their differences and support governor Wamatangi's administration.

The governor had pointed a finger at some politicians in the county whom he said are positioning themselves for succession politics in 2027.

He said the group is using elected leaders to fight his administration.

Speaking to Star on Monday, Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi said that he is ready to work with everyone to ensure that electorates benefit from his administration.

He urged elected leaders should unite and work together to enhance the growth and promotion of development.

He said that through the support of assembly leaders, he (Wamatangi) is ready to make Kiambu great and exploit the untapped potential.

“Kiambu County will no longer be an example of bad leadership due to wrangles pitting the executive and the county assembly. We will work together with the MCAs so that we can realize development. Kiambu has wasted a lot of time, and we need to catch up, " Wamatangi said.

Majority leader and Kalimoni ward MCA Godfrey Waiyaki Mucheke said that they have agreed to make Kiambu County a referral of good leadership and governance.

He said that the leaders of the assembly are now fully behind the governor noting that the termed differences are not in existence.

Muceke said that they are united in rolling out the development of projects and initiating bills that will help in improving revenue collection.

“There is no fight between the governor and the members of the assembly remember we are all from a different world view and this might be interpreted as difference," he said.

He hailed the governor for the increment of bursary funding from an initial Sh100 million to Sh200 million.

He said that the funds will greatly impact the education sector in the County.

Kiambu speaker Charles Thiong'o said that members of the assembly can’t resolve to go back to dark days in the assembly where fights between the governor and legislature were orders of the day.

“We have resolved to end the politicking so that we can focus on delivering our mandate to the people. The citizens expect service delivery from us, not fights,” Thiong’o said adding that all the Mcas will rally behind the governor and support him in service delivery.

Uthiru MCA Eric Ndung’u said that Wamatangi is committed to making Kiambu great and undoing the mistakes that were initiated by the previous regime.

He noted that the constant fights that were witnessed in the previous administration slowed the development projects.

He noted that the current administration is ready to see the transition of development noting that Kiambu electorates are more interested in good governance that would yield positive results.

Kiamwangi MCA Kung’u Smart urged the governor to continue reaching out to all stakeholders to ensure smooth service delivery.

He said that education remains one of the key catalysts for development.

“Wamatangi is ready to make Kiambu great through various reforms and we are fully behind him," he said.

Nominated MCA Wacera Kariuki said that elected leaders should set an example that can be emulated by others in society.

She urged the locals to support the administration now and in the next five years to come.

“I know our governor was anointed by God and we will support him now and the next five years to come," she said.

The County government last week launched a mass registration of NHIF cards.

Wamatangi sent a stern warning to corrupt County officials noting that anyone caught misappropriating county funds will be held countable.

The governor said he will ensure that the service delivery in the county is reinstated to the required levels.

"My administration is keen on fighting corruption and I will do everything possible to ensure things are in order," Wamatangi said.
