Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has said no amount of intimidation will push her to withdraw her support for Deputy President William Ruto.

She said some state operatives are busy "cooking" charges against her to force her out of UDA.

Waiguru said on Wednesday the Jubilee administration has realised it is staring at a humiliating defeat and is now using all tactics to instil fear in those who have joined UDA.

“They have told us that they have our files ready but we are saying that we are not going to be intimidated or threatened by arrest. I will not move even an inch from supporting Ruto,” she said.

The governor said the writing is on the wall for state operatives using taxpayers money to intimidate Mt Kenya leaders supporting Ruto.

“We are solidly behind Ruto for President. Even if they run up and down, they will not change the mind of the people to stop supporting Ruto,” she said.

Waiguru reiterated her calls for President Uhuru Kenyatta to have a handshake with his deputy and stop supporting Raila Odinga for the presidency.

The governor said Uhuru will face a humiliating defeat in the August polls should he continue to support Raila.

She said Uhuru should abandon his “Raila project” and allow a free and fair contest between Ruto and Raila.

“We are asking our President with all due respect to have a handshake with Ruto. He should listen to the ground to avoid being embarrassed on August 9,” Waiguru said.

She spoke at Thaita Coffee Factory during a stakeholders meeting.

The governor said asked the President to remove some of the people surrounding him from the government because they were misguiding him.

On Tuesday, Waiguru asked Interior PS Karanja Kibicho to stop threatening her with arrest and asked him to explain what he means when he says "Waiguru will not be on the ballot".

The governor also dismissed claims Ruto had planned to impeach Uhuru, saying it was Raila who had attempted to take over power by swearing himself in.
