Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for the amazing transformation of Mwea prior to the Mashujaa Day celebrations.

“We were forced to use gumboots the last time you visited Mwea. Today the transformative is tremendous,” she said.

The transformation of the stadium and access roads has been positively talked about by most residents who spoke to The Star.

Mercy Kamanda, a resident told the Star that the reconstruction of the stadium gave job opportunities to many people in the area.“We were contracted to help with works like carrying materials to the site and the process itself,” she said.

Kamanda, said she got an opportunity to sell food items to the workers at the construction site.

“I paused my vegetables selling business because selling cooked food to the site workers was more rewarding,” she said.
