Huduma Kenya has come up with guidelines to enable its staff to remain safe while on duty.

Secretariat CEO James Buyekane said among the guidelines is ensuring social distancing of those seeking services. Only a limited number of people will be allowed inside at a time.

Buyekane spoke when he visited Nyeri Huduma Centre on Tuesday in readiness to upscale operations. He also visited Kirinyaga and Murang’a counties on the same day.

“Even as they come in, they will be supposed to wash their hands using running water and soap and today we are donating two handwashing units towards these efforts,” Buyekane said.

Some 20 litres of sanitiser were also donated to the centre.

Inside, chairs have been marked to allow 1.5-metre social distancing.

There will be sanitiser on every desk while staff members will wear masks throughout. Citizens will also not be allowed in without masks.

They will also have their temperatures taken.

“All citizens whose temperatures are high are advised to go and seek medical attention,” he said.

He said all the 52 centres across the country have been opened offering the critical services like the collection of identity cards, police abstracts, certificates of good conduct, KRA certificates among other critical documents and services.

He said only fewer staff members will be working in the centres and will be reporting in shifts.
