Ruguru MCA Peter Weru who collapsed and died on Jamhuri Day will be laid to rest today.
Weru, 35, was addressing the public in his Ruguru ward, Mathira, on Tuesday last week, when he said he was feeling dizzy before passing out.
He was taken to a Nyeri hospital, but he died.
Weru will be buried at his Karuthi farm. A funeral service will be held in Ngorano Primary School grounds.
Nyeri leaders, led by Governor Mutahi Kahiga and MPs, are expected to attend the funeral service.
Weru leaves behind widow Faith Wangari and two children. Weru’s death comes barely a month after Governor Wahome Gakuru died in a tragic road accident.
Gakuru, 51, was travelling to Nairobi when his vehicle was involved in a road accident near Kabati on the Thika-Murang’a highway.
He had been elected at the August 8 General Election.
In February, the county lost the first governor, Nderitu Gachagua.
Gachagua died at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
