Police in Thika are looking for a woman who stole a three-year-old girl in Kiandutu slums on Monday.
Naomi Wambui allegedly lured Valentine Mwikali, who was playing with other children outside their home, with a banana, snatched her and fled.
Mwikali's mother Ann Mbithe said Wambui had earlier tried to flee with two children but they were too much of a burden and she took them back to their homes.
“The kids who were brought back by Wambui told me that she boarded a matatu with my daughter. Efforts to reach her on her phone were futile as she had switched it off. I’m worried about my daughter’s safety because I don’t know where she was taken,” Mbithe said.
Wambui runs a kiosk.
Resident Karen Kyalo said, “We want her out of the slums because we cannot stay with a thug who’s stealing our kids. If we spot her we will treat her the way a thug should be treated.”
