South Coast Pirates are ready for Daystar University’s Falcons in the KRU Championship semifinals, coach Kevin Amiani has said.

Pirates finished second in the regular season to book a home semifinal as Falcons beat Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology’s Cougars 21-7 in the playoff quarterfinals.

The semifinal will be played at Seacrest School in Diani, Kwale County.

On Sunday, Amiani said: “We want nothing but promotion to the Kenya Cup. I can't predict what Daystar have for us but we have the answers to all their questions.”

Pirates are unbeaten at home this season, a record Amiani wants to keep.

“My team is a well-oiled machine. We are ready for Daystar Falcons. We are happy with what we have achieved so far.”

During the regular season, Daystar beat South Coast Pirates 27-18.

Daystar coach Caleb Bosire expects a tough match.

“South Coast is a formidable opponent. There is no clear favourite so expect a closely contested game,” said Bosire.

“We will go all out and put them under pressure. I know they have home advantage but that will not scare us.”

Daystar lost to Kisumu RFC in last year's semis while South Coast Pirates crashed to Nondies.

Impala defeated Western Bulls 32-17 to set up a semifinal clash against Masinde Muliro in Kakamega next weekend.

Masinde Murilo finished top of the table in the regular season.

The winners of the two semifinals will secure automatic promotion to the 2024/25 Kenya Cup to replace relegated Catholic University’s Monks and Homeboyz.
