Kenya Cup action enters the fifth week with former champions KCB hosting Strathmore Leos at the Lions Den in Ruaraka in the standout tie of the weekend.

Curtis Olago's charges lie second on the log with 20 points same as champions Kabras, who top the standings through a healthier points difference.

The fixture will double up as the "DI Baddest Cup" the second edition in honour of the late Jerry Olola, who played for both clubs.

The first edition was played last year with the bankers 33-18 winners.

Olago expects a tough encounter from the varsity side.

“We need to be wary of Strathmore Leos, who have always caused us a lot of problems. The boys must be solid at the back and avoid costly mistakes. We have trained well this week, and I am happy with my players. Calling upon our fans to show up in large numbers for the fixture,” noted Olago.

Olago has made three changes to his squad. Rocky Aguko, who has been out for the past two seasons with a horrific knee injury sustained during the Kenya Cup final in 2021, starts at the back of the scrum.

Aguko has been playing for KCB's second-string team (Eric Shirley Shield outfit) in preparation for his return.

Centre Peter Kilonzo comes in for his first appearance of the season alongside speedy winger Geoffrey Okwach.

The rest of the team remains unchanged with the likes of skipper Griffin Musila, Peter Waitere and Davis Chenge the pick in the forwards.

Brian Wahinya, Bob Muhati and Darwin Mukidza will be the pick of the backs.

Strathmore, have had an indifferent start to the campaign, lie sixth on the standings with nine points after wins over Nakuru (27-24) and Blak Blad (21-16) as well as dropping points against Menengai Oilers (27-10) and Quins (8-6).

Head coach Louis Kisia will rely on Ian Masheti, Dennis Tubei and Regan Juma in the forwards while Victor Odhiambo, Stephen Osumba and Arnold Muita will be the key actors in the backs.

Kabras host Mwamba in Kakamega, Quins entertain Nakuru, Oilers face Blak Blad, Nondies have a date with Homeboyz as Catholic Monks take on Kisumu.  All matches kick off at 3 pm.
