Rapogi throw down gauntlet ahead of regional games

Rapogi bagged the Migori County title after beating Kameji 10-0, thanks to a try from Jefferson Ochieng.

St Joseph’s Rapogi High School is determined to bag the Nyanza secondary school 15’s rugby title.

“We want to represent Nyanza at the nationals in rugby 15’s. In 2017, we represented the region in 7's at the national level. We are determined to crush perennial rivals Maseno School and St Mary’s Yala and qualify for the 15s. These are our only threats at the regional level,” said coach Fred Odhiambo.

Rapogi bagged the Migori County title after beating Kameji 10-0, thanks to a try from Jefferson Ochieng. Robert Ochieng converted the try and also scored a penalty kick. In the semis, Rapogi thrashed Taranganya 47-0 while Kameji defeated Isibania Boys 12-0.

“With the support of the new principal and the entire Migori County sports fraternity, the boys are raring to go. We have prepared well for the regionals,” he added. The regionals will be held at Kisii School next month.

Other teams that will represent Migori at the regionals are Manyatta (handball boys), Kakrao (handball girls), Tuk Jowi (basketball girls), Migori Boys (basketball boys), Kanyawanga (hockey boys),and Agenga (hockey girls).
