Top seeds Ofafa Jericho will be up against Kisii, Gede, Kiambu and Maseno in the Prescott Cup tournament starting on Friday at the RFUEA ground.

The Jericho-based outfit coached by James Kaili will fancy their chances of going all the way having bagged the Nairobi regional Prescott Cup crown in July when they beat Rift Valley Academy 24-20 in a thrilling final at the same venue.

Kaili said he is looking forward to integrating some of his younger players who are currently in Form One and Two for the three-day championship.

"It's a good tournament in preparation for next season as we look at blooding some of our younger players to play in this competitive championship and get to know how rugby is played at this level," added Kaili.

He said he believes they have what it takes to win the tourney considering they have depth. "We are looking at playing two games in a day which is not easy. This is because by Day Two fatigue tends to creep in. So the team with depth will carry the day," noted Kaili.

The tactician expects a competitive championship with the likes of Maseno, Mangu, and Vihiga in the mix.

“It will be a tough tournament. We have very strong teams in the competition and we are relishing the challenge of facing the best teams," he noted.  Pool B will feature Jomo Kenyatta, Vihiga, Kang’aru, Mang’u and Lenana.

The competition brings together the schools that won the regional competitions this year. Ticket prices have been confirmed at Sh 200 per day.

Payment will only be via the Kenya Rugby Union’s official paybill 155550; account PRESCOTT. There shall be free entry for students in uniform.
