Kenya Cup side Mwamba have received a shot in the arm after renewing their partnership with Stanbic Bank for the next one year.
In the enriched deal, Mwamba Rugby Club retains the name Stanbic Mwamba and emblazoned Stanbic Bank brand and logo kit for the duration of the sponsorship.
The sponsorship package has doubled to Sh6m.
The bank first signed up as the club’s main sponsor in December 2016 and was unveiled as the official shirt sponsor in March 2017. During the event, Stanbic Bank and Mwamba RFC unveiled the 2019 playing kit, another new beginning following the club’s move from British sportswear company Samurai Sportswear to BLK Sportswear, an Australian firm.
According to the bank, the improved deal has been down to the value that both brands have brought on the table and the future portends greater things.
Stanbic Bank's Chief executive officer Charles Mudiwa was deligted with the sponsorship.
“It is our wish that the sponsorship size and value grows even further over time. We are cognizant of the role of financing in sport, and alive to the fact that more funding, accountability and professionalism is the only way the sport will grow. This deal reaffirms our commitment to supporting the development of the sport by sponsoring an indigenous club in a sport that has put Kenya on the global map,” Mudiwa,
The club have produced some of the country's top players whop include Kenya sevens superstars Collins Injera, and Humphrey Kayange and most recently Billy Odhiambo, Daniel Taabu and Eliakim Kichoi.“Kenya is our home and we drive her growth. We are committed to driving this growth not only through provision of relevant financial solutions, but also enhancing shared value by making a positive difference in the lives of our stakeholders. It is our hope that this sponsorship will make a positive difference in the lives of Kenya’s rugby players,” said Mr. Mudiwa.
Mwamba RFC President Alvas Onguru said: “We are very proud of our partnership with Stanbic Bank, which began two years ago and has brought much needed stability in our efforts to run the programmes that accelerate the lives of young men and women who play rugby at the Mwamba Rugby Football Club."
