Over 290 golfers are expected to grace the 2023 Ruiru Sports Club chairman’s prize golf tournament, set for April 1 at the club’s Par-73 course.

The golfers are drawn from Ruiru and other clubs including Thika Sports Club, Muthaiga, Karen among others, in celebration of Chairman Dominic Chege, who will be serving his second year in the position.

Kcb has sponsored the competition for the ninth consecutive year, underlining the brand’s commitment to supporting the growth of golf in the country.

The bank sponsored the 2023 Magical Kenya Ladies Open, the Safari Tour, and the Corporate Citizens of Africa (CCA) Sustainability Golf tournaments.

Kcb group director marketing and communications, Rosalind Gichuru said: “Sports sponsorship remains a key part of our brand’s engagements and the Ruiru Chairman’s prize event offers us a unique platform to not only support golf but also interact with our customers.”

The tournament was preceded by a Pro-Am event played on March 30, which attracted over 30 professional golfers including Samuel Njoroge, CJ Wangai, and David Wakhu. The event was won by elite amateur Michael Karanga.

Chege said: “On behalf of Ruiru Sports Club, I would like to thank our long-standing sponsors, KCB Bank for the support they have shown us over the years, we look forward to further partnerships in the coming years.”
