The 2021 NCBA Golf Series heads to the par-72 Muthaiga Golf Club this  Saturday for the 20th event on the calendar.

240 golfers are expected to take to the course, where the top five finishers will book a spot to play at the series finale, scheduled for next month in Karen.

So far, 90 golfers have booked their spots to play in the finale – among them three junior golfers who emerged overall winners of their respective clubs’ events of the Series.

The Muthaiga leg comes just a month ahead of the second Junior Golf tournament, which will be held at the same venue where 100 junior golfers are expected to take part.

Cumulatively, 2596 golfers have taken part in the Series since its inception in January 2021, pointing to the remarkable success the tournament has made in its debut season.

“Muthaiga prides itself as the home of golf owing to its history with the game in the country. We are pleased to finally have our Series sharing in the rich history of the club this weekend and we look forward to more junior golfers emerging winners at the course,"NCBA Group managing director John Gachora said.

He is hopeful the Grand Finale of the series will serve up interesting match-ups among the golfers. “We are almost at the tail end of the Series which has been a great achievement for us. We will look forward to the last cohort booking their slots in the grand finale. This being the 20th event in the Series, it means we only have two more tournaments remaining. We look forward to heightened competition on the course as golfers compete for the last slots available to play at the finale,” he said.

This month, the Series will feature a triple-header at Muthaiga, Kericho and Ruiru  clubs before shifting to the Grand Finale, which will be played in the first week of December.

The top five winners – overall winner, men’s winner, men’s runner-up, lady winner and lady runner-up - from these events will book the final 15 slots available for the grand finale.
