OVER 200 golfers have been drawn for the Kenya Revenue Authority’s inaugural Golf Open this Friday at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club.

The event set to tee off at 6:30am, has attracted 159 amateur golfers, nine pros and junior golfers. Another 100 non-golfers from top government and private organisations will be part of the occasion as invited guests.

KRA’s Golf Open is seeking to leverage on the sports sector to strengthen its relations with stakeholders from across the country. This event marks the climax of the KRA celebration of Taxpayers Month, which lapsed in October 2021.

This is the first time KRA is holding a golf event outside Nairobi County as they prepare to scale it nationwide in a series of events next year.

Speaking ahead of the event, KRA’s Commissioner-General Githii Mburu said: “Through the golf tournament, KRA demonstrates openness in addressing taxpayer issues and representing a KRA that is service-oriented.

“The occasion presents us with an opportunity to enhance our relations with stakeholders as part of the Eighth Corporate Plan.

“It is our belief that interactions at occasions such as the golf open event are helpful in guiding us; improve our relations as we seek to grow our economy.”

He added: “It is our belief that the golfers will have wonderful interactions on the course, and we look forward to great competitions, and consequently a wonderful tournament.”
