Obunga to battle PASC Langa in Chapa Dimba final

Obunga secured a spot in the final after thrashing Bandari Youth 2-0 at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium at Mamboleo on Saturday.

Nyanza champions Obunga FC face Riff Valley's Pasc Langa in the Safaricom Chapa Dimba final on Sunday in Kisumu.

Obunga secured a spot in the final after thrashing Bandari Youth 2-0 at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo on Saturday. Sydney Ogutu scored the opening goal for Obunga in the 38th minute. 

In the second half, Armstrong Omondi secured Obunga's victory by converting a corner kick delivered by Bill Clinton.

Obunga FC head coach Evans Oketch exuded confidence in lifting the trophy.

"We must clinch this title. The boys showed a remarkable performance and I believe they will maintain the same effort during the finals," said Oketch.

He lauded the boys for displaying good teamwork during the thrilling match.

"In the first half, Bandari Youth made several attacks which forced us to change tack and press hard to secure the spot in the final," Oketch said.

 Plateau Queens play Laikipia-based Barcelona in the girls' final at noon before Obunga face off against Langa in the boys' final.

 PASC Langa secured their spot in the final after outplaying Ebwali 4-0.

Langa head coach Fredrick Owino expressed his team's readiness to claim the title, citing their previous experience in the Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament. 

Owino said their opponents posed a tough challenge but remained confident in his team's ability to deliver positive results.

Meanwhile,  Ebwali Boys' head coach Francis Muhambe highlighted the team's struggle with limited resources as a hindrance to their full potential.

He said they are optimistic about Ebwali's future in football, expressing a commitment to overcome challenges and develop the team into a talent powerhouse, despite the setback at the ongoing tourney. Bandari Youth and Ebwali were each awarded Sh 250,000 by Safaricom.
