Young Kings, Dagoretti Mixed rule Nairobi Chapa Dimba tourney

In the girls' final, Dagoretti Mixed Girls secured a dominant 6-0 victory over Misericordiae Queens from Makadara.

Young Kings and Dagoretti Mixed Girls’ are Nairobi Safaricom Chapa Dimba champions.

The duo won their respective finals on Sunday during the fourth edition at the Dandora Stadium, Nairobi.

Hosts Young Kings came from a goal down to humble Dagoretti Lions 6-1.

Dhuor Kang netted for the Lions in the seventh minute.  However, the hosts replied with an Edwin Toto penalty strike barely 10 minutes later.

Lions had a chance to reclaim their lead but Shano Boku missed a penalty.

The miss proved costly as Joseph Wekesa put Kings ahead with a splendid freekick in the 26th minute.

Washington Muga then capitalised on Lions’ defensive lapses, to hit them twice for a 4-1 lead. He added two more in the second half.

Kings coach Kaswara Okwangla was delighted with the victory.

"We are thrilled to be the new Nairobi region champions. It was undoubtedly a tense and challenging game as our opponents were equally good. We will go back to training in preparation for the national finals," said Okwangla.

In the girls' final, Dagoretti Mixed Girls his Misericordiae Queens from Makadara 6-0.

Cisse Nambuye opened the scoring in the first minute. Volentar Akinyi scored twice as Faida Awuor, Patience Kasichana and Ruth Safari added one each.

The winners pocketed Sh 250,000 while the runners-ups took home Sh150,000 each.

In addition to the grand prize, each player from the winning team took home a Neon Ultra phone, as the runners-up players each took home a Neon Smarter Phone.

The national finals are slated for next month in Kisumu County. Other teams already qualified include Ebwali and Brenda Girls from Western, Obunga FC and Plateau Queens from Nyanza region, PASC Langa and Wiyeta Girls from Rift Valley, Chuka Uni Scorpions and Syomunyu from Eastern, Bandari Youth and Changamwe Ladies from Coast and Wajir All Stars and Wajir Queens from North Eastern.
