Despite trailing 10 points behind leaders Naivas in the FKF National Super League, Kisumu All Stars coach Charles Warinda believes his side will catch up with the leaders.

“Ten points is not a big deal if we avoid slip-ups. We can narrow the gap. I don’t feel we are off the track yet.  I’m confident we will get there and meet our objectives,” said Warinda.

On Monday, they drew 1-1 with Gusii FC at Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho in a game in which Warinda rued a last-minute equaliser.

“They made the game difficult for us because they resorted to long balls but I’m happy with the point even though I wanted all the three points,” noted the tactician.

Warinda is keen to lead Otenga back to the FKF Premier League and has strengthened the team by signing forward Nehemiah Onchiri and left-back Steve Ochieng on loan from struggling KPL side Shabana.

Onchiri made his debut for Kisumu as a second-half substitute against Gusii.

“The signings we made are necessary and I’m sure the new additions will help us,” he said.

He challenged his charges to return to winning ways when they host Luanda Villa at Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Saturday. Last weekend, Luanda Villa upset Mathare United 1-0.
