Angolan defender Kialonda Gaspar revealed that the team’s success lies in treating one another as family in the national team.

The defender was voted Man of the Match in their 2-0 final Group D match win over Burkina Faso.

They subsequently booked a place in the round of 16 on Tuesday at the Charles Konan Bani Stadium, Yamoussoukro.

“In the national team, we live as one family and that is what makes us solid on the field. My goal remains to help the national team. We have the ability to advance. We will continue preparing for the rest of the competition,” said Gaspar.

Commenting on their match against Burkina Faso, who also advance as second-place finishers, the defender hailed his team’s tactical awareness against a good Burkinabe side.

“We were good on the field against Burkina Faso. The same goes for the tactical aspect. We played well as a group. We were the best on the field. I think it is important to qualify. This is for us and the millions of Angolans back home,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Cameroon defender, Christopher Wooh said they learnt from their mistakes from previous games to beat Gambia on Tuesday.

Wooh scored the winner for the Indomitable Lions to seal their knockout qualification.

The defender said they took key lessons from their previous games, 3-1 defeat by Senegal and a 1-1 draw with Guinea, and decided not to give up until the game is over.

“We knew we do not have to give u. We had to prove that we had the strength to move on and we learnt from our mistakes,” he said.

Cameroon progressed with four points and Wooh say they are not thinking about individual performance but rather, what they give collectively.

“I’m thinking collectively and the objective is to win, we are going be in this competition and we are going to have the next games. We want good results,” he added.
