Spain’s Teresa Diez Moliner plans to get her season underway at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open (MKLO) in Vipingo Ridge’s PGA Baobab Course on February 8.

Moliner is among those listed in MKLO’s Category 12, which is reserved for the Top 20 in the Ladies European Tour (LET) Qualifying School.

The Spaniard didn’t let her previous season define her next as she put on a spectacular show at the LET Q School in Morocco.

After eight gruelling rounds, Moliner navigated the Pre-Qualifiers and Final Qualifiers to finish 16th on 11-under-par.

The 24-year-old golfer had her Christmas wishes come true when she scooped her LET card for the 2024 season and set herself up for a first full season which will start in the Kenyan Coast for the umpteenth time.

Speaking about how it first felt to hold her tour card, Moliner told LET Media: “I was super happy and super proud.”

“It came down to the last hole and I saw the leaderboard and knew I needed to go lower than ten under. On the 18th, I knew I had to get a birdie and I got it.”

“We celebrated a bit, but it didn’t sink in until I came back home. I just remember being super happy, celebrating with my family and my team.”

After missing out at the 2022 Q School, Moliner decided to concentrate all her efforts on earning a LET card through the Access Series.

Moliner had a promising start to her LETAS season with a top 10 at the season opener in her home country, Santander Golf Tour- Girona.

Yet, the Spaniard couldn’t continue the momentum and finished 40th on the LETAS Order of Merit.

“It has been a tough year, to be honest. I started the season playing well but then the rest did not go as planned.

“My brother started working with me later into the season and we changed a couple of things. I got my confidence back. My game was getting better and better. I was confident heading into Q School.”

Although Moliner, who turned professional in 2021, didn’t have the season she wanted, the Spaniard insists she is pleased she decided to play the year on LETAS.

“The LET Access Series is such a big family; the environment is lovely and everything over there is great. The tour got us prepared. I feel like the standard out there is getting better and better, it was an amazing experience.”

Now Moliner is ecstatic for the new year and to be given more opportunities on a larger stage.

“It was awesome to have quite a few other Spanish qualify with me. It’s a big Spanish crew and we’re going to be traveling all together, so it’s nice to have them on the side,” she added.
