The Eliud Owalo Foundation has announced the launch of the Super Cup tournament expected to feature all four counties of the vast Nyanza region.

The five-day competition which serves from December 26 to December 30, will feature a combined team each from Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu, and Siaya counties.

The ground-breaking initiative aims to revitalize football standards among youth.

The Eliud Owalo Super Cup is a response to the declining soccer standards in the region and the growing vulnerability of young individuals to issues such as drug abuse, alcoholism, crime, and immorality.

On December 26, which is the opening day of the competition, will see Homa Bay rub shoulders with Migori at the Raila Odinga Stadium, Homa Bay in a much-awaited titanic clash.

A day later, Kisumu settles scores with Siaya at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium last Mambolea showground, Kisumu.

The third-place playoffs are slated for December 28. The finals, to be played at Nyilima grounds, Asembo, Siaya County, pits Nyanza United against record Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia.

The tournament is poised to provide a vital avenue for youth engagement, character building, income generation, and the creation of new opportunities.

The Foundation has a long history of supporting sports teams and contributing to the development of football in Kenya.

Notable contributions include the recent acquisition of a state-of-the-art bus for Gor Mahia FC, alongside sustained support for teams like AFC Leopards, Migori Youth FC, Shabana FC, and Muhoroni Youth FC.

Unlocking the untapped potential within Kenyan youth, empowering them to nurture their sporting talents and develop careers in sports is the Foundation's mission.

The Foundation has collaborated closely with football stakeholders in the region and partners with the Winam Youth Soccer Group, a grassroots organization boasting experienced individuals, including legends like James Goro Oronge, Tobias Ochola ‘Juakali,’ Peter Dawo, and Gerald Omollo ‘Chonjo.’

Entry to all the venues where the matches will be played is free.
