Nakuru City Queens Chief Executive Officer Benard Esitoko has said his team is ready to hand Vihiga Queens their first loss of the season when the two sides meet in the Kenya Women's Premier League match this weekend.

Vihiga and Kenya Police Bullets are the two teams yet to test defeat this season after eight matches.

Esitoko said Nakuru is neither scared nor concerned about Vihiga's imperious form, adding that they will head to the Western region to bag maximum points.

"We are not fighting a losing battle. If we know we are going to lose there, there's no need to honour the match," Esitoko bullishly maintained.

"The team has recovered after a slow start and the confidence is high. We have everything to play for and nothing to fear about"

The return of former coach James Angila has seen Nakuru win two of their last three matches.

"We needed him because he knows the club and the players very well," Esitoko added.

Nakuru is in transition after losing 12 players last season. Most of the players joined Bungoma Queens because their education will be facilitated at Sang'alo Institute according to the official.

"Nine of the players were in the first team. The situation was unavoidable because education is equally important for the girls to further their careers."

Esitoko said their priority is to maintain their top-flight status after the mass exodus of players. Nakuru finished sixth in the 2022/23 season

"We are not over-ambitious this time round. With the rebuilding, I think we care much about our league safety."
